Technology is changing so fast that most of us don’t even recognise these changes. Many people have yet to realise just how rapid and profound the current digital revolution is. The pieces are in place to completely change the face of products, technologies, organisations, and entrepreneurship. Below is a list of 20 Fascinating Technology Facts which I find are pretty impressive:

  1. More than 3.8 billion people already use the internet, 40% of the population of the world.
  2. The Internet already connects 8 billion devices.
  3. Google searches are more than 3.5 billion a day.
  4. Every minute, over 570 new websites are built.
  5. Video content makes up nearly 80% of all internet traffic.
  6. 34K tweets per minute are sent.
  7. 500 million tweets sent per-day.
  8. Your online reputation and privacy worst enemies are Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, Google, TikTok, WeChat, MeChat and Snapchat.
  9. More than 4.2 billion records in 2016 were stolen.
  10. Facebook is the best friend of divorce attorneys. In reality, 1 in 7 divorces is being blamed on Facebook.
  11. This year there will be more than 88 million births. They will be born into a data and algorithm economy.
  12. The last few years saw the development of 90% of the world data.
  13. Netflix is watched every day for 250 million hours of TV shows and movies.
  14. The music is streamed over 56 million hours a day.
  15. The sum of technical knowledge is doubled every 2 years. This means that 1⁄2 of what they learn in their 1st study years is obsolete by their 3rd year of study for students with a 4-year technical or college degree.

  17. We have four generations operating side by side for the first time in history. Boomer, Gen-X, Millennial and Traditionalism. The way they grew up talking is very different.
  18. A new concept “the Silver Surfer” was developed for the elderly +50 who regularly use the internet.
  19. In order to solve the issues which we still do not yet know are issues, currently we are training students for jobs which don’t exist using technologies which have not been developed.
  20. It is just beginning the Digital Revolution. In the next 10 years, a working Quantum Computer may arrive. It will allow the computing power to improve exponentially. For many activities in the next 10 years, Artificial Intelligence will outperform people.
